Dany's RaaD Roundup

The Daily Show Roundup for the week of June 20th, 2010

The most impressive clip of the week comes after what must have been a TON of work by The Daily Show staff to dig up clips from every US President from Richard Nixon to Barack Obama talking the talk and oh how similar that talk has been over the years about American energy independence. Thanks to No Agenda 209 (subscribe here) for bringing this segment to my attention.

Virtual unknown Alvin Greene wins the Democratic primary for the Senate race, he will go up against incumbent Republican, Jim DeMint, now nobody is happy. The whole thing seems quite comical, but no one except political pundits probably care.

The media is starting to realize that there is a definate difference between campaign promise Obama and President Obama and that once a person gets into the Oval Office they realize the job isn’t so easy as they thought it would be during the campaign. I again hope everyone would visit the Politifact Obameter that grades the President on each of the 500+ campaign promises he’s made.

The No Agenda show has been talking about Afghanistan’s vast mineral resources since the 2007 report came out, too bad it has taken until now, 2010, for the mainstream media to notice this finding.

I just have one question, why is Joe Barton, a Texas Representative, apologizing to the head of BP?

Mortal Kombat Rebirth Trailer

For anyone (especially boys) who grew up in the 90’s, Mortal Kombat was a big part of video gaming. Well, this new trailer with Jeri Ryan brings a new life to the Mortal Kombat on the big screen. It’s a totally re-imagined, taking out the supernatural aspects behind the story and turns them into criminals and serial killers. It is an extremely high quality 8 minute trailer.

Thanks to The 404 (subscribe here) for the heads up.

Honda Will Make Us Fatter

I know it is not Honda‘s intent to make us an even fatter world than we already are and are becoming, but it’s hard to not see this as an unintended consequence of a device that looks like it could do so much help for those who are physically disabled.

Just wait a few years, those thin women on the Honda U3-X Personal Mobility Prototype, if they won’t even walk around even for the simplest of activities like an art exhibit will just balloon up in weight over the years. Hopefully this will get marketed to those that physically can’t move around on their own as a means of mobile freedom and not just a mobile La-Z-Boy. This may be the first step on the road towards a Wall-E type future of human laziness. THANKS ASIMO!

If I am off the mark, let me know.

The Daily Show for the week of June 4th, 2010

The Daily Show has been on break for a couple of weeks, but they came back at the beginning of June.

Glenn Beck berates the entire mainstream news media for not airing a clip of an Israeli raid, that most had actually already aired during the 24hour period before Beck himself aired it himself. Confused? Don’t worry, it’s just another reason someone over at Fox News‘ fact check zone should get fired.

Then, after the initial story about the boat raid aired, the contents of that boat came out and it turned out to be medicine and supplies… so that didn’t exactly turn out the way Israel hoped.

I don’t know if this is a going to be ongoing or just a one-time assignment, but Olivia Munn joined as the newest Asian Correspondent.

The Daily Show may be back, but it was still a short week.

*Update 6-6-2010 – It looks like the Turks who got raided by Israel had set out to provoke a response and they seemed to have gotten exactly what they wanted, so I am feeling less sympathetic to their efforts to deliver aid. They could have submitted themselves to a peaceful inspection and then go on their merry way to deliver supplies after, but they chose to run the barricade.

President Obama’s Pledge to Repeal Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell

According to the Obameter, the site that has been monitoring all 500+ campaign promises that candidate Barack Obama made in running for president, repealing the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell military policy is promise #293, recently the House of Representatives has helped to push this promise that much closer to fulfillment and it’s up to the Senate now and if the Senate passes a similar measure, it would just take the completion of the military’s investigation on how best to change their policy in December to fulfill this promise for President Obama to change this policy. On President Obama’s site now, he’s asking for people to sign up to stand behind him in repealing the policy, so if you believe that the policy should be repealed, head over to:

and add your name in support.
